And I am prepared to argue that Rockman --> Mega Man was not a translation error but a conscious decision by Capcom USA as well!
So argue, because that doesn't make a lick of sense to me. It's the japanese website, so what the hell would the USA branch have to do with it? You think the colony is dictating terms to the mother? |

Here is how it works;
Japan makes the game
Japan hands the game to America, and washes their hands of it forever
America does whatever they want in the localization process
We get the end result
The reason we have Mega Man is because the localizer didn't even like the game, or the name, and wanted to rename the character.
It was redone as Megaman instead of Mega Man likely to fit the logos better without having to redo them. This started with X4/MM8.

That looks like a space between Mega and Man right there. I'd sure as hell call the words being on entirely separate rows of text a space. I was talking about the site, which was indicated by the words 'title screen of the japanese website'. The words Mega and Man are standing right next to each other, not on seperate rows. I was obviously NOT talking about the title screen, which I believe you've been mistaken with. In related news, why the heck haven't I been here the past few days. |
