According to TMMN, when Inafune made the announcement that he'll be announcing an MM title we've all wanted, everyone, almost in unison, blurted "Legends 3".
Inafune just smiled.
Honestly though, I doubt it'll be Legends 3. I'm leaning towards X9 something along those lines.

Inafune's already closed the Zero story arch. Expanded it with ZX and ZXA. So unless there's gonna be a ZXA2 Hyper Fighting Ultimate Platinum Edition, Zero's more or less NOT coming back.
My money's on X9. Plain and simple.

Unfortunately, his words were so vague, I can't even rule out a new series. After all, he's proven to be out of touch with what the fans really want, he may actually be deluded to think we want him to ruin the overextended franchise with another crappy branch.
