Ladies and gentlemen! I present to you.. the latest product of my boredom... RIVER CITY!Nothing really exciting, I suppose... but I've thusfar only worked like 6 hours on it- which also consists of chatting, mailing, foruming and EATING DINNER. Features: Parallax Background.. WHOOOOoooo... yeah. Dashing! IT WORKS. Remixed soundtrack! NEW! Jumping! This took me all day. NEW! Dashjumping! Just dash and jump. NEW! Pausing. Press Enter. Controls: Z = Punching X = Kicking (Not done!) C = Jumping Enter = Pausing Arrow Keys = Movement All these can be edited in the 'Players' settings on the main menu. ...And that's about it. Does this mean I'm quitting Flip? HECK NO. This is just a.. well, in-between project? I need to focus on something else, THIS helps me to get my focus back on Flip. Nevertheless, I'm already kind of proud on how it's working, so yeah. Official Teaser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cePK3iukhzM

Actually, it should've been 480x320, but some things went bad which I wanted to fix first.
I am already working on changing the resolution to 480x320, but I kind of wanted to get a STABLE, working engine first.

That is still a ridiculous resolution. Try sticking to something that actually works good for the sprite style and is an accepted standard PC resolution.
Pro tip; resolution and art style choices for 2D games dictate the engine. Do them first.

Resolution's the GBA resolution. Art style is the same as from River City Ransom EX, for GBA. I'm going to be sticking to that. By the way, in case you were wondering, I had set it to this 'uneven' resolution because there were some small flaws in the backgrounds and all that, and wanted to inch it in correctly. Afterwards, I kind of forgot I never fixed it. It is now, and once I have something completely new done, I'll upload it.

Resolution's the GBA resolution.
What the hell are you talking about? The GBA has a resolution of 240x160! That's half of yours! It should have been obvious it was way too big when there was massive amounts of screen compared to the real game.

If a country made prisoners of war play this, I'm pretty sure it would be considered a breach of the Geneva Conventions.

That's actually like the actual game. You dont stop dashing unless you move the other way. What the hell are you talking about? The GBA has a resolution of 240x160! That's half of yours!
I'm going to blame it being past midnight and my not feeling to good on my missaying that. I DID mean to say it's TWICE the GBA resolution. I like a bit of overview. If a country made prisoners of war play this, I'm pretty sure it would be considered a breach of the Geneva Conventions.
That is, I assume, both because it's not done yet, and cause you're a gigantic jackass... Yeah, sounds about right. Anyway, I've had a good sleep, good breakfast, and even though I feel like crap, I'll see if I can get SOME attacks in.

Twice is too big for the visual style. Stick with a conventional resolution like 320x240.

That's the first smart thing you've said in 2010.

Anyway, new version is up. Fighting isn't in there yet, but I managed to get jumping to work. I'll be working on being able to jump on the wall, though I fear it may end up a feature left.. unfeatured. I'll look into it. I WANT it to work, so yeah. Controls WILL be ZXC and Enter, though will be changeable through MMF2's own controlset. I AM however considering a new controlscheme, but that will most likely be featured in Flip before getting in here. (Yes, I too have found a liking in using a controller.. >_>;...) Z will be punching, X will be kicking and C will be guarding. For the time being, C is JUMPING, until I get the fighting done. :S When the fighting is done, jumping will OBVIOUSLY be Z+X

The original game had that for jumping because there was not enough buttons to perform the task by itself. Map it to another button as well.
