Hey, I did add 'and other stuffs'.. this is definately one of those. :S

The problem is, I already realize most of you dont take me seriously, and honestly, I'm not really expecting any of you to actually man up and actually state what's on your mind, be it for better or worse.

What I also know, is that some of you are nicer outside of this forum. It's like you all have a different front up here than were I to speak upfront with you.

But all of that aside.. I did state my 'realization', so you could obviously assume this isn't the ONLY forum I'm posting at.. I just wanted to share this track with you, maybe make you guys a bit cheerier or something (hell, the sound was made to cheer someone up) and well, if you're not gonna take it, it doesn't matter.

Didn't expect it otherwise anyhow.

I assure you that I'm as nice as the situation permits no matter the format. I'm no less nice to you when you're doing something dumb than when someone else is.

Also, Bob-omb Battlefield has much improved mixing but replacing all the instruments with synths just isn't my cup of tea.

I can back that up too. Every other forum Alex has been on along with me, he has been banned. Fairly quickly I might add.

Yeah, I'm not so sure... Alex could just be the exception to the rule.. or not.

Man, I remember that I thought he was an asshole when he first got to Strider's forum. And when I got here eventually cause Strider's forum wasn't going to get back up, I came here with the same idea.

..Perhaps it's the forum itself. Y'know- expect the worst, and even bad can seem good enough?

Though I must say I find it odd Alex's actually the first to state his opinion about a song in a normal way like that, but I do appreciate it. Well, if Synths aren't up your alley? I'll just have to do something different next. Wink

The difference was, I believe I use to not post in threads I that didn't impress me in some way, back at Strider's. I still practice this today, in smaller amounts, but when you went and said the magic phrase; "say something constructing about my remix or perhaps just NOT POST," I actually honestly sat down and tried to think of constructive criticism. Then I realized I would be writing a full length 5 page report that would surmise to "start over" and you wouldn't like that either. So instead I TL;DR'd it and made it funny.

I was an asshole there, all I did was go into the role-play threads and do things to piss them off or make fun of them.

Look, Speedy, all in all, you hit the nail on the head: it's hard to take you seriously. Your whole demeanor is so naive, child-like, and utterly lacking in wit that we naturally draw our flak to you because you are the weakest link here, not to mention that you draw your own flak just as often anyway. Most of us are decent enough guys, but with little tolerance to what we deem stupidity and we don't suffer fools gladly. Folks of our interests (video games, anime, and geeky stuff in general) are notorious for behaving this way, so I'm sure you're more or less used to it, especially since I've seen you usually take it well and generally come back for more without holding a grudge. That speaks well of you, your resilience in in the face of criticism and abuse (justly or not) is commendable. But it also speaks on a different level when you complain about it as if it was going to change just for you.

And you are part right. I do act a bit more harshly here than I would at say, Wikipedia, because this forum and Wikipedia have different cultures. It's just more harsh here, whereas Wikipedia sometimes seems like schizophrenic in that it welcomes newbies on one hand and bludgeons them to death with politics and bureaucracy on the other, in addition to the psychopaths who hate everyone and the morons who think it's funny to insert the word "penis" on random articles. But in the end, this forum is where I can release some of my more vicious thoughts on occasion without really any consequences (with respect to Marc, of course, who would probably ban me if I did anything seriously bad, though with more regret than his goon-like admins). But I feel more real here, like I have to put up less of a PC front here than I do just about anywhere else. Hell, I'm generally less civillized in general: I use a lot more slang and less formal tone when I post here than when I'm at work or writing history on Wikipedia, in addition to being crass and critical and good-naturedly insulting. Of course, in real life, Marc can attest to the fact that I used to be a major dick in my youth and teens, I've generally mellowed out after my first deployment and reevaluated what life is really worth. When I visited New York last Thanksgiving, I think he was a bit suprised at how I'd changed a bit, but I was trying to make that balance between not being a totally different person from what he remembered, and not regressing to my previous personality.

What does this mean for you, Speedy? Just keep trucking on. Do what you do, and if coming here starts to be more of a stressor than it is worth, then stop. Otherwise, you can revel in your special niche as our punching bag, as much out of endearment as abuse.

Anyway, since you asked nicely, here is my constructive criticism of your music: it's not particularly bad, but it's not really all that good at all either. I'd say you're a bit below average for what I would expect... there is just nothing special or notable about your remixes. You don't really do anything that I haven't heard a zillion times before, nothing fresh or interesting. I challenge you do do something really out there and interesting... say, remix FFVII Still More Fighting as a piano jazz remix or something. It would take a lot of work, and frankly, you probably don't have the skill to pull it off well, but I think that such a project would be enough of a learning experience for you that you could apply that to subsequent works and stand out a bit more.

I forgot about that. HZ is the success story of the forum. He went from your position to a valued member of the forum, Speedy. Look to him to see where you could one day be.

..Y'know, I was going to make a little sarcastic joke about alex and hz's posts.. Until I read through the posts once more.

Didn't my posts actually WORK this time?

You guys ARE putting up what you actually think, HAVE given your comments and concerns and seemed overall nicer.

Hah, even if it's for a short while.. like basically half a page of this topic.. Mission accomplished?

Y'know, the whole reason I can take all this 'picking on me' is cause I expect it. I expect it, even if I make a simple post, I ALWAYS expect some kind of kick from behind. There's some moments when I take it a little.. less gracefully.. which are mostly in moments where I actually care about the topic, or when I'm hoping for an honest answer.

I guess I got that this time, didn't I..?

Yeah. Just don't ruin the moment. Or you'll get kicked from behind.

Here's another suggestion: try remixing something that doesn't get a lot of attention, like Marble Madness or Metal Storm.

Do this one. Put your all into it! It's one of my favorite Megaman songs. If you are successful, then I won't kick you half as hard the next time.

Yeah, I probably failed.

I tried making an orchestrated version, (Download here) but it doesn't quite work out as expected.

My actual 'space' version which I made last (Download here) is probably the best..

Compared to the original version at least (Download here) both stand out at top.

And yeah, you might notice how a few notes were changed between the original and the other versions, but other than that.. mostly different instruments..

I kept trying different things, but I seem to be more skilled at 'remaking' rather than remixing.. >_>;
