Hey, I did add 'and other stuffs'.. this is definately one of those. :S
The problem is, I already realize most of you dont take me seriously, and honestly, I'm not really expecting any of you to actually man up and actually state what's on your mind, be it for better or worse.
What I also know, is that some of you are nicer outside of this forum. It's like you all have a different front up here than were I to speak upfront with you.
But all of that aside.. I did state my 'realization', so you could obviously assume this isn't the ONLY forum I'm posting at.. I just wanted to share this track with you, maybe make you guys a bit cheerier or something (hell, the sound was made to cheer someone up) and well, if you're not gonna take it, it doesn't matter.
Didn't expect it otherwise anyhow.
Look, Speedy, all in all, you hit the nail on the head: it's hard to take you seriously. Your whole demeanor is so naive, child-like, and utterly lacking in wit that we naturally draw our flak to you because you are the weakest link here, not to mention that you draw your own flak just as often anyway. Most of us are decent enough guys, but with little tolerance to what we deem stupidity and we don't suffer fools gladly. Folks of our interests (video games, anime, and geeky stuff in general) are notorious for behaving this way, so I'm sure you're more or less used to it, especially since I've seen you usually take it well and generally come back for more without holding a grudge. That speaks well of you, your resilience in in the face of criticism and abuse (justly or not) is commendable. But it also speaks on a different level when you complain about it as if it was going to change just for you.
And you are part right. I do act a bit more harshly here than I would at say, Wikipedia, because this forum and Wikipedia have different cultures. It's just more harsh here, whereas Wikipedia sometimes seems like schizophrenic in that it welcomes newbies on one hand and bludgeons them to death with politics and bureaucracy on the other, in addition to the psychopaths who hate everyone and the morons who think it's funny to insert the word "penis" on random articles. But in the end, this forum is where I can release some of my more vicious thoughts on occasion without really any consequences (with respect to Marc, of course, who would probably ban me if I did anything seriously bad, though with more regret than his goon-like admins). But I feel more real here, like I have to put up less of a PC front here than I do just about anywhere else. Hell, I'm generally less civillized in general: I use a lot more slang and less formal tone when I post here than when I'm at work or writing history on Wikipedia, in addition to being crass and critical and good-naturedly insulting. Of course, in real life, Marc can attest to the fact that I used to be a major dick in my youth and teens, I've generally mellowed out after my first deployment and reevaluated what life is really worth. When I visited New York last Thanksgiving, I think he was a bit suprised at how I'd changed a bit, but I was trying to make that balance between not being a totally different person from what he remembered, and not regressing to my previous personality.
What does this mean for you, Speedy? Just keep trucking on. Do what you do, and if coming here starts to be more of a stressor than it is worth, then stop. Otherwise, you can revel in your special niche as our punching bag, as much out of endearment as abuse.
Anyway, since you asked nicely, here is my constructive criticism of your music: it's not particularly bad, but it's not really all that good at all either. I'd say you're a bit below average for what I would expect... there is just nothing special or notable about your remixes. You don't really do anything that I haven't heard a zillion times before, nothing fresh or interesting. I challenge you do do something really out there and interesting... say, remix FFVII Still More Fighting as a piano jazz remix or something. It would take a lot of work, and frankly, you probably don't have the skill to pull it off well, but I think that such a project would be enough of a learning experience for you that you could apply that to subsequent works and stand out a bit more.
