Recently I've.. well, started conversing about a certain PC. I'm not exactly sure of it, though.. there's MAJOR positives about it, but some.. obvious downsides, too.

Anyway, it's listed new for 2850 euroes, and right now my offer's the best- 1500 euroes.

Here's the Specs:

Brand and Type

Brand: Acer
Productseries: Aspire
Type: Predator G7710

Technical Specifications

CPU Type: Intel Core i7 940
Memory Size: 12GB (6 x 2GB)
Memory Type: DDR3 (SODIMM)
Motherboard Chipset: Intel X58
Hard drive size: 2,15TB
Hard drive bus: SATA-300
Optical Drive Type: Blu-Ray / DVD+/-RW Combo
Video Chip: 2 x GeForce GTX 260

Connections

Connection (Video Out): D-Sub (VGA)
Connection (LAN): LAN 1Gbps
Connection (USB/FW): Firewire 400, 9x USB 2.0
Connection (Misc): PS/2

Operating System

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

Appearance

Colors: Oranje

Misc. Info

Logitech G15 Keyboard
Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse
Far Cry 2

This PC has been won in a contest by the seller, but isn't using it because he's mostly a PS3 gamer. (Lame reason, but hey, whatever gets me a new PC, right?)
The PC is still packed in the original box, it's only been opened to see how it looks. It has not been connected to a monitor of even electricity.

So, any comments?

Nothing about my flat-translation thank you, I know some things might be off.

That is a ridiculously monstrous piece of machinery. For 1500 euros it'd be a steal.

If only it were lime-green instead of hideously orange.

I mean, LOOK AT IT. If my light's turned off, it'll STILL shine Orange.

But ah, nothing a spray paint can't fix, right?

((P.S. I'm dont know if it's ACTUALLY this one, but the fact he's listed it as orange and the fact this is a pic of THE Acer Aspire Predator G7710, I'm pretty sure it is.))

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

Can't get Win7? Is the OS 64bit at least? You wont be able to use more than 4gb of ram unless you have it. (12 is ridiculous though, even my 8 is more than I've needed so far xD). It looks like a good deal though.

The case reminds me of a Gundam, so that's pretty badass.

Logitech G15 Keyboard

Be weary, it is known to cause crashes in a good variety of programs. It is handy though when it works. The 24 (or 16? I can't remember) extra function keys are very useful, we even use it at work.

Connection (Video Out): D-Sub (VGA)

Seriously? Only VGA out? What the hell?

Optical Drive Type: Blu-Ray / DVD+/-RW Combo

That sounds handy. Too bad it wasn't a Blu-Ray burner though.

All in all, it looks like a steal for that price. Take it.

Definately will.. Most likely, I'll drop Win7 on it myself.

Either way, I haven't SELECTED any of the things. If something is NOT to my liking, I'll just sell it and grab something better.

The money I'm SAVING by buying this will definately be more than enough for those replacements. ;P

Anyone remember this post??

I've got it now. FINALLY.

Problem? Yes. It's STILL ACER.. There's alot of shitty crap I dont want on it, (like free McAvee trial.. >_>;.. and the Acer management systems that dont do crap aside from annoy me..) and I can't seem to upgrade it through THEIR OWN UPGRADE SYSTEM.

Why not? I lack a credit card. And I dont know anyone who has one either. Welcome to the 21th century, where payments over the internet are done with bank transfers or PAYPAL... Oh wait, you only use credit cards?.. uhhh....

So screw it all. I burned the recovery CDs Acer asked for (though I'll never use them, if I'm reinstalling this thing I'll just use the KEYCODE and my own Vista DVD thank you) and.. a friend of mine got his Win7 upgrade DVD lying around.. OEM, so keycode free thank you.

Apparantly he has a use remaining, whatever he means, so I'm really grateful to him. Saves me $119 for an upgrade DVD or years of payments on a credit card that I'll never use for anything other than this.

P.S. Marc, it's Vista 64bit Home Premium.

FORMAT C.

Upgrade didn't work anyhow, so I suppose that was the best idea.. The DVD had full-install capabilities anyway.

I'm rather glad though.. damn, Trackmania looks like it was ripped from reality. I can't wait to see how BETTER games fare. I've been busy installing important programs before games ALL DAY. O_o

But ah.. I should be playing Crysis or Borderlands or Modern Warfare or Street Fighter or Grand Theft Auto or something tomorrow.. Tongue
